Midnight Hike
As I build these images, I am thinking about the way we manage our ability to direct our attention while we drift through the landscape of life’s experiences. We start with specific and distinct environments, traditions, and cultures. Experiences accumulate, and we are continuously gathering and processing information. The media and the internet exert their powerful homogenizing effect. Add in years of dreams and memories, and the result is an amalgamation – a crowded world with skewed perspectives, distorted views, and frequent figures, apparitions, and shadows passing by. It is a world where electronic screens, doors, … a reflection on a lake …unwittingly become portals into other worlds – some brand new and others just mirrors or illusions.
