This triptych is meant to engage contemporary discussions about personal space, body language, and female body image. I wanted to paint people who were clearly claiming the personal space around them. I have noticed that body language is often exaggerated when people are in bathing suits. Hence my painting subjects are abstracted from photos of strangers on the beach in group settings. In addition I have made them life size so that they interact not only with the others in the painting but also with their audience.
